June 10th 2015 saw the start of the 100-day tour of the UK and Ireland with The Web Ellis Cup. The Trophy Tour has just completed its five-day visit to Scotland, where the trophy entered Scotland on Thursday morning last week offering spectators the chance to view the most prestigious prize in the sport.

The trophy entered Scotland following the official launch of the tour by winner of the Rugby World Cup 2003 Jonny Wilkinson and His Royal Highness Prince Harry, who is the Honorary President of England Rugby 2015, at Twickenham on Wednesday 10th June.

The next stop for the tour was the town of Jedburgh, where a festival of sport took place for local schools. The Web Ellis Cup then travelled to George Watson’s Academy on the outskirts of Edinburgh. One of Scotland’s greatest ever players attended this school and this is where he learnt to play the game.

The trophy has now headed to Northern Ireland for a five-day visit, which will be followed by five days in Ireland and ten days in Wales, before travelling around England.

There is much more happening across the world during the build up to the huge event, as the initial training squad has now been named. Wales have announced their 47-man World Cup training party, which now starts the process of rigorous training.

All players have a strict itinerary to follow, taking them worldwide until the week of the first game in September. From July 1st they will commence with training in Fiesch, Switzerland followed by training in Qatar, Ireland and Poland. The final team will be announced on August 31st before the final test week takes place in Italy.
