Just launced in the UK are 4 new Cigars made in the Dominican Republic by Macanudo. Macanudo 1968 boasts a bold new taste that perfectly balances the cigars fuller bodied tobaccos. Aged in tercios and charcoaled wooden barrels to further enrich its flavour, the blend marries Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco to a proprietary filler cultivated exclusively for General Cigar on the remote island of Ometepe. These tobaccos were developed expressly to complement the Connecticut Habano binder and the flawless Honduran San Agustin wrapper. They are available in the following sizes – Corona 5″ long with a ring gauge of 42, Rothschild 4.5″ long with a ring gauge of 50, Robusto 5.5″ long with a ring gauge of 50 and Titan 4″ long and with a ring gauge of 60. In addition to the return of 7 Dunhill tobaccos to the market late last year it has been announced that Dunhill Nightcap will also be making a comeback in May 2011. We have pre ordered this and so as soon as it becomes available it will be added to our web site along with the other Dunhill tobaccos already stocked.
I am pleased to say that Peterson’s Special Reserve 2011 is now available to purchase online, this tobacco consists of Brown & Black Cavendish with red, orange and bright virginias and has a sweetish flavour, full description on the web site. Some of our customers will very soon notice a difference in the cut of their pipe tobacco. As of the 1st January 2011 the government has increased the minimum cut for pipe tobacco from 1.2mm to 1.5mm. This means that all tobaccos that have a cut under 1.5mm will be classed as hand rolling tobacco and will incur duty at that rate. I would expect that the majority of our customers will see little or no change to their tobacco as only the following tobaccos will be most affected by this change: all our loose shag tobaccos and pre packs such as Clan and Borkum Riff.
Thursday 27th January 2011 – We have today updated the payments section of UKtobacco.com. All our credit card processing will now be handled by Actinic Payments. Actinic payments offers the highest level of any secure internet payments system compatable with Actinic software and has full PCI-DSS level 1 compliance for your peace of mind. There will be no difference to the ordering process until you reach the part of the checkout where you submit card details, at this point you will be transfered to the Actinic payments site where you enter your card details for processing, once completed you will be returned to the UKtobacco home page.
Worldwide orders for Christmas delivery must be received by Thursday 2nd December. Last date for Western European orders is Thurday 9th December. Royal Mail recommend the 21st December as last day for posting 1st class mail which means orders should be received by us no later than Monday 20th December.
