Postal Strikes

Due to the possibility of postal strikes in the run up to Christmas this year we will be adding the option to have your orders delivered by another courier from Wednesday 21st October. Details will be added to the web site later today, Tuesday 22nd October, giving you the option to choose between Royal Mail 1st Class at £2.25 per order or UK Mail at £3.99 per order. The advantage of using UK Mail is that this is a track and trace service and has insurance of up to £1000, it will also be unaffected by the Royal Mail strikes as UK Mail use their own workforce to deliver packets. Should you be out when they try to deliver they will leave you a card informing you of a failed delivery attempt and that they will deliver again the following day. Alternatively you can pick your parcel up from one of their many depot’s providing you take your card with you. Unfortunately this service is only available for mainland UK and so does not include the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, outer islands of Scotland or Northern Ireland.

I am considering stocking a range of Oliver Twist tobacco bits and would appreciate comments or feedback from anyone who knows of this product or thinks they may like to try it.

Oliver Twist are small pieces of tobacco (tobacco bits which you place between gum and cheek) and come in a variety of different flavours. New products on the web site this week are as follows: Stanwell Calabash pipes in both sandblast and smooth finish. Windmill Delta cigarette lighters which are windproof and waterproof and are available in four finishes, ideal for camping etc. Windmill space sensor lighters in two finishes, these are battery operated and work by simply opening the lid and passing your finger through the space on the side of the lighter to ignite it, ideal for people with arthritis. A straight razor with a carbon fibre pattern.

Hand Rolling Tobacco

Tobacco price increases

A number of Manufacturers are increasing their prices of tobacco from the 1st July 2009. As a guide hand rolling tobacco will increase by 10p per 25g, pipe tobacco by 10p per 25g and small cigars by approx. 5p per pack of 10. Given our current stock levels I anticipate that these increases will take effect on our web site around the 15th July.

Dunhill tobaccos

It is with regret that I have to announce British American tobacco (BAT) have recently discontinued the distribution of all Dunhill tobaccos. As a result of this we will shortly be launching the following new tobaccos: Erinmore Balkan Mixture which will be very similar to Dunhill Early morning pipe and Orlik Bull’s Eye which will be similar to Dunhill De Luxe Navy Rolls. We also recommend Punchbowle as being similar to Dunhill 965 which just leaves Dunhill Flake and Dunhill Royal Yacht, I hope to be able to announce comparable tobaccos for these at a later date.

Royal Mail Strikes

Due to recent strikes at Royal Mail we would ask all our customers to allow additional time for the delivery of your order while any backlog of mail is cleared.
